Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Handedly LLC (“Handedly,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit HandedlyHome.com or GoHandedly.com, book a service, or otherwise interact with Handedly (collectively, the “Site”). This policy applies to customers and site visitors. Independent cleaning professionals and business subcontractors are covered by a separate Contractor Privacy Notice referenced in their onboarding documents, not by this policy.
1. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
- Booking & Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, service address, billing address, and account login credentials.
- Payment Information: Payment card or digital-wallet information, processed and stored by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc. Handedly does not store your full card number on our own servers.
- Home Access Information: Door codes, doorman or super contact information, building access instructions, personal cleaning preferences and other details necessary to let a cleaning professional into your home. This information is treated as sensitive and is shared only with the professional assigned to your booking and the building contacts you identify.
- Pet Information: If you book pet care or relief-walk add-ons, information about your pet, including behavior, health, or safety disclosures you provide under our Terms of Service.
- Service Documentation: Before-and-after photos or video captured during service for quality assurance and documentation, as described in our Terms of Service.
- Communications: Support messages, chat logs, and call recordings when you contact Handedly, and text messages sent through our automated tipping and scheduling notifications.
- Device & Browsing Information: Browser type, IP address, device identifiers, time zone, and pages visited, collected automatically through cookies, log files, and similar technologies when you use the Site.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
- Provide the Service: To schedule, staff, and deliver your booking, process payment, and communicate with you about your appointment.
- Quality Assurance: To evaluate satisfaction claims, authorize re-cleans, and maintain service records consistent with our Terms of Service.
- Fraud & Security: To screen orders for fraud risk, investigate chargebacks, and protect the security of the Site and our payment systems.
- Communications & Marketing: To send appointment reminders, tipping prompts, service updates, and — where you have not opted out — promotional communications about Handedly services.
- Analytics & Improvement: To understand how visitors use the Site and improve our booking experience, service offerings, and website performance.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. SMS & COMMUNICATIONS CONSENT
- Consent: By providing your mobile number and booking a service, you consent to receive text messages from Handedly related to your appointment, including arrival updates and the post-service tipping prompt described in our Terms of Service. Message and data rates may apply.
- Opt-Out: You may opt out of non-essential text messages at any time by replying STOP, or contact us using the information in Section 11. You may continue to receive essential transactional messages about an active booking.
4. HOW WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
- Your Assigned Cleaning Professional: We share the booking, access, and pet information reasonably necessary to perform your service with the independent cleaning professional or subcontractor business assigned to your appointment. Professionals are independent contractors, not Handedly employees, and are contractually required to protect your information and use it only to perform your service.
- Service Providers: We share payment information with our payment processor, Stripe, Inc., and browsing information with analytics providers such as Google (including Google Analytics), solely to help us operate and improve the Site.
- Legal & Safety: We may disclose personal information to comply with applicable law, respond to a subpoena, search warrant, or other lawful request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Handedly, our customers, or our cleaning professionals.
- Business Transfers: If Handedly is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a successor policy.
- We Do Not Sell Your Information: Handedly does not sell personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration.
5. COOKIES, ANALYTICS & BEHAVIORAL ADVERTISING
- Cookies: We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our booking flow.
- Interest-Based Advertising: We may use your browsing information to show Handedly ads on other platforms, such as Google, Meta, or Bing. You can opt out of interest-based advertising through those platforms’ own settings or through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out portal at optout.aboutads.info.
6. DO NOT TRACK
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, Handedly does not currently alter its data collection practices when it detects a Do Not Track signal.
7. DATA SECURITY
- Safeguards: Handedly uses administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, consistent with New York’s data security requirements. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
- Access Limits: Home access information (Section 1) is limited to your assigned professional and the personnel who need it to schedule and support your booking.
8. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
- New York Residents: New York does not currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy statute that grants residents a general right to access, correct, or delete personal information, unlike California, Colorado, and a small number of other states. New York’s SHIELD Act instead requires businesses to maintain reasonable data security safeguards for private information, which we address in Section 7.
- Your Requests: Regardless of where you live, Handedly voluntarily allows you to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, by contacting us using the information in Section 11. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and we may retain information we are required to keep by law or for legitimate business purposes such as tax, insurance, or dispute records.
- Other States: If you live outside New York in a state with its own comprehensive privacy law, that law’s specific procedures and rights may apply to you in addition to the rights described above.
9. DATA RETENTION
- Retention Period: We retain booking, payment, and service-documentation records for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet our recordkeeping obligations — generally at least six years, consistent with the retention period in our contractor and business records.
- Deletion Requests: You may ask us to delete your account information at any time, subject to records we are required to keep by law or for legitimate business purposes such as tax, insurance, or dispute records.
10. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 18, consistent with the booking-authority requirement in our Terms of Service. Handedly does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. CONTACT US
For questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal information, contact Handedly LLC at hello@handedlyhome.com (or kelly@handedlyhome.com), or by mail at 17 W 27th St, New York, NY 10001.
12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
Handedly may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The current version will be posted on the Site; continued use of Handedly services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
